The Definition Of Codependency

A broad definition of Codependency is a conduct or behavior where one person cares for the other person who is dependent on her or him, generally in an inappropriate way. Another term very popular or you can say related to codependency is enabling. Though it might at once feel like doing the right thing but unnecessarily you are giving vent or airing the destructive behaviors, of the person you care for to continue. These persons, in turn, try to have an effect on how you behave.

There are many things that should be considered before you label yourself as a co-dependent or an enabler. You should not consider yourself into the league of a codependent until and unless you have reviewed your environment and your current living situation for what it really is. If you have been sympathetic and compassionate to the sufferings of an individual’s quandary or predicament, then it does not mean that you are an enabler. However, if you are allowing any active alcoholic to stay at your place and you are paying all his bills and this has been the scenario for quite a while, well, it is a possibility you are codependent. This could be considered codependent because you are enabling the destructive behavior to effect both you and the alcoholic.

You may not realize it but Codependency could make you sick and in the process you will not have helped yourself or anyone that you care about.
